Information on the “International Agency for Disabled People” Public Union
The “International Agency for Disabled People” Public Union (IAD PU) was established in 2008.
The main objective of the Union's activity is to establish mutual cooperation relations with local, international and foreign organizations to strengthen the social protection of people with different types of disabilities. IAD PU conducts public control over the implementation of the laws adopted by the state on disabled people in every field, deals with the protection of the rights of people with different types of disabilities, refugees and internally displaced persons, disabled prisoners s and their family members, as well as resolves social and medical issues, also provides public advocacy, provides them with psychological assistance, legal and social services, organizes their cultural recreation, helps them to get education and treatment, and publicizes their socio-economic problems. It supports the rehabilitation and adaptation to life of disabled people. In addition, IAD PU conducts monitoring dedicated to the protection of the rights of disabled people and their problems, holds round tables and meetings on various topics, launches exhibitions of handiwork of talented disabled people, cultural and mass events, concerts and various projects in these directions.
In accordance with its Charter, PU may carry out educational activities provided for in the state program in order to prevent the participation of disabled people in terrorist activities by individual extremist groups, as well as the involvement of disabled women in public troubles (human trafficking, transporters of narcotic drugs, illegal circulation of psychotropic substances).
PU cannot engage in politics and commercial activities. PU can operate due to the collected membership fees, financial support of philanthropists, businessmen, and projects implemented through donors.
Everyone, regardless of religion, race or nationality, can become a member of PU, which is based on tolerance in its activities.
PU may establish branches and representative offices in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan and abroad.
The North, South, West and Karabakh regional branches operate under the “International Agency for Disabled People” Public Union.
