Ahmed Mammad oglu Babayev was born in 1952. After graduating from high school No. 36 in Baku in 1968, he studied at the Faculty of Treatment and Prevention of Azerbaijan Medical University. He started working as a physician-ordinator at the Sumgayit City Emergency Medical Aid Hospital. In 1976-1979, he was a junior researcher at the Institute of Labor Hygiene and Occupational Diseases. In 1979-1982, he studied at the postgraduate department of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR in Moscow. For some time, he worked as a junior researcher and then as a senior researcher at the J.Abdullayev Scientific-Research Institute of Cardiology. In 1988-1995, he worked as a department head at the Republican Diagnostic Center. In 1995-1997, he worked as the Chief Physician of United City Hospital No. 15. From 1997 until his retirement - until 2018, he worked as the Chief Physician of the J.Abdullayev Scientific-Research Cardiology Institute, the opening of which was personally attended by the great leader Heydar Aliyev.

Ahmed Babayev, who devoted 45 years of his 70-year-old life to medical activity, was a member of the European Society of Cardiologists and was also an assistant at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology of the Azerbaijan Medical University. He has been a candidate of medical sciences since 1984, and a doctor of medical sciences since 2009. He is the author of about 100 scientific works, 1 monograph and methodological instructions.
